Speaking Tongues is the manifestation of my lifelong curiosity and desire to see the world. As an avid traveler, voracious bookworm, frustrated multilingual and born and raised New Yorker, I’ve often wanted nothing more in life than to see as much of the world as possible.
This podcast began from several conversations with multilingual friends, a desire to share these conversations and a curiosity about how people use their languages to communicate in different parts of the world.
I am evolving over time to include more context about culture, music, dance, food, research, occupation in these conversations in order to truly celebrate communication and connect culture through language.
The objectives of Speaking Tongues are to:
- Foster an environment for authentic storytelling
- Showcase the power of language, multilingualism across modern borders
- Connect cultures through language, food, community and storytelling
- Give voice and equity to understudied and overlooked languages and cultures
- Create space for conversation about identity, belonging and cultural curiosity.
